I came across this picture of Here and Now at one of favorite spots we like to moor at. Seems like when I’m on the boat the last thing I think of is to blog. When I opened the blog this morning I discovered I never posted at all during our January to first week of March sailing trip this year! Now that I’m back home in Alaska I have a different routine and I hope I can make myself post more.

At Kelly Cove usually there are just a few other boats next to us. It’s a nice change from a crowded mooring field. It’s a night you know you’re going to have dinner on the boat, there’s no need to be getting ready and miss the sunset, just time to chill, relax & absorb the moment.

I’m looking forward to getting back on our boat in October. For now I’ll catch up on this blog, Instagram and our Facebook page. Right now there are still openings to charter Here and Now the rest of the summer. ⛵️

Last week we spent our last few days at Norman Island. It’s one of our favorite places. The anchorage is very calm, there’s snorkeling, a nice beach, restaurant/bar at Pirate’s Bight and the infamous Willy T. Sunsets were amazing!

We went from The North Sound to St. Martin for our first long passage and overnight one. 89 miles and took us 16 hours. It was quite the adventure. Beautiful sunset and then traveling in the dark. We arrived earlier than we expected so had to hover for awhile and we got to catch the sunrise in St. Martin. We anchored and checked in at Marigot Bay and then moved on to Grand Case.

In all the years we’ve traveled to BVI this is the first time seeing jellyfish. Saw another one a few days later after taking this video. Hopefully we don’t come in contact with them swimming! 😳

Our charter base called in the morning and told us with weather reports of tropical storm Tammy they wanted us to get the boat to a dock. Leverick Bay was the closest so we decided to go there for two nights. When we docked of course it started to rain like crazy and winds were gusting. It was a little nerve racking! The weather cleared up and then was sunny. Definitely didn’t seem like a big storm was coming but from the weather reports we were just waiting and concerned.

Here’s some of the preparations we saw done for the storm. Locals seemed a little worried.

We took a 25 minute taxi ride to Coco Maya for dinner. We called first to make sure they were open Wonderful restaurant with a gorgeous view and we’ll be back again!

Later the storm got upgraded to Hurricane Tammy. Still over 100 miles from us. We weren’t seeing any bad weather only dark clouds in the sky. We went to bed Saturday night thinking we’d be woken up in the middle of the night with winds and rain. Nothing happened. The most we had was rocking of the boat Sunday morning at the dock. It was a relief to be clear of any bad weather. Late Sunday morning we left Leverick Bay and got a mooring ball at The Bitter End.

Hard to believe there were any Hurricane worries. Calm and sunny…we even put up the sun shade!

Prickly Pear Island is in the North Sound and one of our favorite spots. We love to anchor here. It’s so beautiful and relaxing. We were the only boat anchored since it’s still early in the season. Many places are just opening after being closed for hurricane season. It’ technically is still hurricane season but it’s at the end of it.

It’s pretty common to see turtles here. They pop up often and come pretty close to the boat. This video was actually from April.

What’s so nice about Prickly Pear Island is that it’s close to Saba Rock, The Bitter End and Leverick Bay. You can dinghy to all three places. From Leverick Bay you can take a taxi and explore more of Virgin Gorda.

We’ll be on the boat for the next month sailing in the British Virgin Islands and US Virgin Islands. When we’re not sailing Here and Now we have it available for charter.

When you arrive to the Here and Now it is all ready for your enjoyment! You can have your provisions ordered ahead of time and delivered to the boat. After your boat briefing you’ll be ready to set sail!

The galley is stocked with dishes and cookware.

The cabins have bedding towels, eco friendly shampoo, conditioner & body wash.

Headed for a month in BVI and can’t wait to get to the boat! First stop was Seattle where we spent the night and had dinner out at a local favorite 13 Coins. It’s close to the airport and has great service and an excellent menu.

Next stop Annapolis Boat Show for a few days.

Thought these signs were pretty funny especially since our other boat is a river boat where we go to our remote cabin in Alaska often in the summer.

Checked out a cool old tavern and met other sailors…next stop after boat show is Miami overnight and then to St. Thomas to catch a water taxi to Here and Now!
